Unlike constant-5V MQ-series sensors, the MQ-7 alternates between a 5V cleaning phase (60s) and a 1.5V measurement phase (90s) for improved accuracy — the module works on constant 5V for basic detection too, but the proper cycle gives better results. Has cross-sensitivity to other reducing gases like hydrogen; for high-specificity CO detection, an electrochemical sensor (like SGX or Winsen ZE-CO above) is preferred. Not a certified life-safety device — for detection/indication only.
