The DS1307 (also known as IN1307 compatible) is a low-power real-time clock IC designed to provide accurate timekeeping and calendar functions for embedded systems and microcontroller-based applications, communicating via the I²C serial interface. It keeps track of seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year, with automatic leap-year compensation, and includes 56 bytes of battery-backed NV SRAM for storing user data. With a battery backup input, the clock continues to run even when main power is removed, and the SMD package makes it suitable for compact, modern PCB designs. It requires an external 32.768kHz crystal and operates on 4.5V to 5.5V.
